About the author
"The most surprising thing to me is the unruliness and independence of nature. The changing of the seasons always reminds me of the passage of time, makes me pause and retrospectively review a certain period of time that has already passed. The transformation of nature is a reminder that human beings are fragile and transient in the context of the overall cycle of nature," says the artist.
Nature has become the main theme of Monika's work. Sometimes human beings also appear, but recently she has become more interested in birds, butterflies and insects. Looking at Monika's paintings, you would never think that such a vivid colour, such a realistic image could be achieved by drawing with pencil, but the artist has mastered this technique and her works often even look surreal, thanks to their interesting compositions, emphasising various parallels and artistic solutions.
She has participated in group exhibitions in Portugal, the USA, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania, illustrated books and had solo exhibitions. Monika's drawings are used in clothing collections and postcard printing. She has been fascinated by nature since childhood, and has loved to delve into the various mechanisms of living systems, which is why she chose to pursue her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Molecular Biology at Vilnius University.
