More about this artwork

The painting depicts a surreal figure with an oversized, bald head, wide eyes, and an exaggeratedly surprised expression. The head is turned upward, looking into the distance. The figure's body is clothed in a richly patterned, dark jacket adorned with circles, and stripes that give an impression of intricacy. Emerging from behind the figure's back is a peculiar, humanoid bird character, possibly puppet-like, holding a smaller crowned figure, suggestive of a scepter or symbolic staff. This bird creature is dressed in a more ceremonial attire, possibly made of regal fabric and shimmering details. The entire composition combines elements of fantasy, whimsy, and a hint of royal mockery, encapsulating a strange narrative that seems both comical and introspective.

Daiva Mažonienė always wants to draw a smile from the viewer. Her works are cheerful and colourful, and her characters are like symbols of a good life. The author's work is dominated by rounded shapes, because, according to the author, she does not like sharp corners both in her painting and in her life, and she smooths them out by painting not so much with a brush as with good emotions.
"My work is born when I feel good, and I put that positive feeling into my paintings".
The most frequent characters in her paintings are angels, known as Angeliauskas, and curvy, charming women enjoying life.
