More about this artwork

The painting, titled "Ephemeral Landscape," features an abstract landscape depicted in a series of horizontal bands that suggest elements of nature and temporality. The artist has used a palette of blues, grays, whites, and hints of green and yellow to evoke a sense of fluid motion across the canvas. The upper part of the painting is dominated by a tumultuous sky, rendered with brooding grays and whites, suggesting a dynamic, perhaps stormy atmosphere. In the central band, wispy, ethereal forms reminiscent of trees or clouds blur into the background, enhancing the painting’s dreamlike quality. Below, the scene transitions into clearer, brighter colors with vibrant patches of green suggesting grassy fields, and subtle earth tones hinting at a distant land or shoreline. The lowest part of the frame is washed in a sandy beige, likely indicating the foreground or a beach-like expanse. Dashes and speckles of paint throughout the composition give the impression of rain, light, or fleeting moments captured in an ever-changing landscape. The overall effect is both serene and stirring, inviting contemplation of nature’s transient beauty.

"I discovered watercolour a couple of years ago. I'm still trying to tame it, to find my own way of expression. I like to cast small format works that have a strong emotional charge of the present moment. I am fascinated by houses where interiors are adorned with many paintings in various formats," says the artist.

Aušra's works are dominated by plant and nature motifs, whose fragility is so well conveyed by the watercolour technique. The paint on the paper seems to pour out like the elements themselves, only occasionally reigned in by the artist's hand. The artist plays with the light and colour layers, preserving the impression of lightness and freedom.

Although she has only recently taken up watercolours, Aušra is not a new to art - she graduated from the Pedagogy Department of the Telšiai Higher School of Art, and from the University of Šiauliai, where she worked for 22 years as an art teacher and andragogue teacher. For many years she has been conducting various creative seminars, workshops and art expression courses for adults. She has been engaged in intensive creative activity since 2014.
