More about this artwork

This painting displays a surreal and dreamlike landscape, anchored by an ethereal, reclining figure, whose face gently emerges from the background, almost as if fading into a haze of oblivion. The figure appears introspective or asleep, enshrouded in soft, melancholic shades of pastel and earth tones, merging seamlessly with the abstract terrain that surrounds it. Abstract patterns and fragmented elements reminiscent of ceramic shards or glass pieces float around and overlay the figure, suggesting fragility and perhaps the scattered nature of memory or thought. The overall composition evokes a sense of dissolution and subtle disintegration, capturing a moment that feels both timeless and ephemeral.

For me, creativity is a way to make sense of a person's life, to express oneself as a person, to elevate a person above the everyday, to give them joy and positive emotions. In my works, among colours and shapes, I "inhabit" love and anxiety, disappointment and hope, faith and dreams. Everything that cannot be expressed in words.

I was born and grew up in Kaunas. I graduated from Kaunas University of Technology and Vilnius Academy of Arts. I have been participating in exhibitions since 1994. I have participated in more than 50 joint exhibitions, plein-air exhibitions, biennials at home and abroad. In 2000, I published the first Lithuanian art textbook "Fundamentals of Art History and Art Cognition". Since 2009 I have been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union.

In my works I like to surround realistic fragments with my fantasy. I mostly paint in oil on canvas. My works have been purchased by various institutions and private individuals in Lithuania and abroad (USA, Australia, various European countries).
