About the author
Reda Ptakauskienė is an artist dedicated to portraying the essence of life by carefully observing reflections, details, and ornamental patterns that captivate viewers. She studies the world around her, seeking to extract significant moments from larger scenes and distill them into smaller, memorable components that connect with individual experiences.
Understanding that we seldom recall complete images but instead remember the elements that affect us most deeply, Reda constructs her paintings in a manner reminiscent of a collage. She isolates transient details from our ever-evolving surroundings, highlighting the fragments that contain meaningful or aesthetic significance. In her recent works, she has increasingly incorporated segments of national patterns and ornaments, perceiving them as visual codes that carry historical context, identity, and symbolic messages passed down through generations.
In creating each new painting, Reda pushes herself to try different methods and evoke new moods. Her dedication to experimentation has produced a varied body of work, with each piece presenting a distinct emotional and visual character, encouraging viewers to discover and engage with multiple layers of meaning.
Reda Ptakauskienė earned her degree in painting from the Kaunas Art Institute at the Academy of Fine Arts. Her academic training shapes her technical abilities and enhances her exploration of both tradition and personal narrative within the realm of contemporary art.
