More about this artwork

This painting leaps into a vivid fantasy of swirling colors and dynamic brushstrokes, capturing a sense of vigorous movement across the canvas. Shades of blue, yellow, pink, and purple intermingle with earthier tones of brown and hints of white, suggesting a vibrant celebration or perhaps a chaotic natural scene. The abstract forms invite the viewer to interpret playful figures or elements of nature cavorting in a dream-like setting, each stroke and splash of color contributing to a symphony of visual poetry. The energy of the painting conveys a rhythmic dance between color and form, resembling a musical composition where each brushstroke plays a note, creating a visual scherzo that is lively and whimsical. The absence of clear forms or structures gives the artwork an open interpretation, allowing the mind to wander through its rich textures and inviting exploration of personal emotions and thoughts provoked by the vivid hues and dynamic composition.

Artist

Junija (Yuna) Galejeva is an abstract oil painter from Lithuania. With a background in musicology, she approaches art with a musician's mindset, applying melodic movement and improvisation to her creations. Working with oils and acrylics on canvas, she explores color nuances and textures to craft emotive, rhythmic compositions. Intuitive pulsions lead her hand and brush into repetitive pattern-like compositions that expand on the canvas, opening up the viewer's field of vision. The touch is soft and meditative or vigorous and dynamic, according to Yuna's emotional inclinations. Either way, the artist welcomes us unreservedly into the intimacy of her psychological sphere, prompting a wave of instinctive associative responses.

Yuna's abstract paintings are a musical expression in visual form. The harmonious and delicate palette has a soothing contemplative aura that refreshes the senses. There is an emotional depth to the work which encourages active engagement with the viewer.

She currently resides in Vilnius, where she works as an editor for the national radio program LRT Klasika and as a lecturer on the history of baroque opera at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
