The Dawn

Vidmantas Zarėka has mastered various genres of painting, but lately nature has reigned supreme in his works. Sometimes he chooses a classical landscape to reveal its beauty, sometimes he paints abstractly in order to convey a feeling, an emotion, an all-encompassing peace or grandeur, but perhaps the most interesting works are those teetering on the edge of landscape and abstraction, where the precise contours seem to melt away, and the careful brushstrokes begin to be replaced by expressive spots of colour.

The palette of the artist's works is particularly pleasing to the eye - the natural earth tones, the muted blues of the sky are never tiresome or intrusive. It has a relaxing and meditative effect, not to mention that it is perfectly suited to the chosen genre.
