About the author
Ansis Burkė is contemporary Lithuanian artist whose work merges painting, visual metaphor, and intellectual reflection on humanity, the city, and the spirit of the times. His works are recognizable for their distinctive plasticity, where figures, portraits, and everyday objects are transformed into symbols that speak of identity, memory, and the paradoxes of our daily lives.
Burkė’s paintings balance between realism and fantasy, between irony and poetry. His art often resembles a visual commentary on the modern human being – immersed in technology, consumerism, and cultural codes. At the same time, the artist seeks a sensitive relationship with personal experience, revealing human fragility and the intimate vibrations of inner states.
Burkė does not shy away from paradoxical juxtapositions: heads turn into objects, everyday items acquire a mystical aura, and urban environments begin to radiate sacrality. This stylistic tension creates the unique atmosphere of his work – where the viewer finds themselves in a reality that feels both familiar and unexpectedly strange.
Ansis Burkė is also actively engaged in educational projects for children and young people. His programs cover the fundamentals of architecture, drawing, watercolor, easel painting, as well as the cultivation of artistic imagination. Burkė’s initiatives are based on the belief that art develops not only technical skills but also the ability to think differently, create new meanings, and face the world with courage.
Ansis Burkė’s art is an invitation to look deeper, to rethink the world, and to discover poetry, surprise, and abundance within it.
