Vaidas Bakutis, born in 1962 in Lithuania, is a self-taught artist with around two decades of painting experience. His exploration of art unfolded naturally, as painting became an instinctive activity rather than a conscious decision. It grew into a vital aspect of his existence, offering him a rewarding avenue for personal expression.
Bakutis predominantly uses oil paints, utilizing both alla prima and layering techniques throughout his artistic practice. These approaches enable him to create works with rich depth and vividness, skillfully depicting subtle interactions of light and color. His commitment to these classic methods demonstrates a careful attention to detail and a genuine enthusiasm for his art.

In 2008, the exhibition "Island of Silence" was presented at the gallery Akmens ženklai in Vilnius, Lithuania, providing art enthusiasts with further opportunities to experience his evocative works.
