About the author
Ieva Stoškienė is a distinguished artist whose artistry is profoundly shaped by spiritual openness and thoughtful reflection. She compares herself to a pen guided by the Creator, tracing the lines of existence with humility and awe. For Ieva, art transcends what is merely seen; it serves as a medium for conveying the inner landscapes of experience, endurance, and revelation. Through her creations, she seeks to evoke radiance, peace, and the deep mysteries intrinsic to the human experience.
While leading an otherwise ordinary life, Ieva persistently returns to painting, continually questioning why the act of creation is so integral to her being. Whenever she begins to draw, she notices that time appears to pause, with ink flowing effortlessly from her pen, as though directed by an invisible hand. During these creative episodes, the act becomes a form of meditation and discovery, bringing forth works that are both novel and reminiscent of something already known. Ieva maintains that genuine creativity emerges from a place of serenity and openness, allowing both life and art to develop in their own courses.
Ieva Stoškienė’s artistic path commenced early on. After completing her studies at the Alytus School of Fine Arts—where she nurtured her foundational abilities and love for drawing—she pursued architectural studies and earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU). Her combination of artistic intuition and architectural rigor gives her work unique clarity and depth.
From 2002 to 2009, Ieva played a vital role at the magazine "Naujas namas," where she was editor-in-chief. This position allowed her to influence the conversation surrounding art and design publications in Lithuania. Now living and working in Vilnius, she devotes herself to drawing with coloured ink, pens, and brushes—media that serve as her tools for continually investigating the changing relationship among self, creativity, and her environment.
