More about this artwork

The painting depicts a closely built cluster of rustic wooden houses, possibly in an old town district. The architecture is traditional with steep, gabled roofs and exposed timber framing. The wooden facades are painted in earthy tones of brown, orange, and hints of dark green, suggesting either the natural aging of the wood or a deliberate choice of colors to blend with the environment. A distinctive feature is a series of balconies and windows that add character to each house, varying in size and detail. The lower areas of the painting show sections of pavement and parts of a small road, seemingly deserted and slightly cluttered with objects like baskets, resembling a quiet, lived-in neighborhood. The upper background features a plain lime-green sky, which starkly contrasts the detailed and textured appearance of the houses, giving a sense of simplicity and focus on the structures themselves. The overall atmosphere is one of charming decay, capturing a historical segment of urban life, perhaps on the brink of modern transformation.
