More about this artwork

This painting depicts an evocative scene of an old town, rendered in broad, textured brushstrokes that create a sense of aged beauty and atmospheric depth. The color palette is dominated by muted hues—greys, lavenders, and soft earth tones—that lend the work a dreamlike quality, suggestive of the liminal space between reality and memory. Architectural elements are visible but abstracted, with buildings and structures blending into each other and the sky, creating a cohesive urban tapestry. Scattered figures, possibly townspeople, appear throughout the composition, their forms simplified and integrated into the setting, contributing to the overall impression of a bustling, vibrant community. The playful contrast of light and shadow, as well as the dynamic composition, evoke a timeless urban landscape, alive with history and whispered stories. The edges of the canvas are neatly framed within a robust, subdued frame, emphasizing the artwork's window-like quality onto a different world.

Aidar's work balances between abstraction and specifics. The outlines of cities are blurred, hiding behind patches of colour, often betrayed only by the spires of towers or the arches of gates pointing skywards. The author deliberately creates such a mysterious image; in his opinion, art that blindly imitates reality is banal. The artist not only chooses subtle colour combinations for each canvas, but also frames them tastefully, so that you can hang them on the wall immediately.
