More about this artwork

The painting portrays a moment captured between two individuals in a close embrace. The central figure, a woman, looks over her shoulder directly at the viewer with an expression that blends contemplation and slight apprehension. Her dark hair is pulled back loosely, a few strands escaping to frame her face. She wears a white, sleeveless top, which is detailed with subtle shadows that define her form under the soft, diffuse light. The other figure, appearing mostly as an impression, has his back turned both to the viewer and partially towards the woman. His figure is less defined, created with softer, more blurred strokes compared to the precision used on the woman's face and clothes. He seems to be wearing a light-colored, possibly white shirt, and his bald head catches the light, emphasizing the form of his skull and the intimacy of the moment. The artwork is monochrome, relying on shades of black, gray, and white, which enhances its emotional depth and the texture of the subjects' attire and physical features. Washes and splatters of ink suggest movement and add an abstract quality to the scene, suggesting the fleeting nature of the moment captured. The use of negative space around the figures focuses all attention on their interaction, magnifying the emotional intensity of the embrace.

"I spent 7 years learning the Japanese and Chinese painting techniques of seji and gombi on rice paper.
This technique, seji, still fascinates me (my favourite) because of its subtlety. Once you touch the sheet, you can't change anything, if you don't get it, you take a new sheet... and again, from the beginning... Delicate, fragile explorations and discoveries...

Other favourite areas of creativity do not let go: ceramics/sculpture, textiles, Earth Art," shares the artist.

Jūratė, although she has mastered drawing, picks up a brush and allows herself to improvise, to play with the expression of the brushstroke, and notice how it is alive, it meanders, it twists, it flattens out, it widens again. Often she adds smaller details, and lately she has been introducing more and more colours, but they are natural and used in moderation. This delicate technique resonates beautifully with fragile, delicate natural motifs.
