More about this artwork

The painting features a vibrant bouquet of lilacs in a translucent glass vase, set against a soft, luminous yellow-green background. Clusters of lilacs in varying shades of purple and white dominate the composition, their small, round flower clusters densely packed and overflowing from the vase. Several hues of green leaves peek from between the blooms, adding contrast and a sense of freshness. The vase is painted with light strokes allowing its contents and the stems inside to be partially visible. Some petals appear to have fallen, scattering around the vase on what seems to be a tabletop, enhancing the naturalistic feel of the scene. The interplay of light and color conveys a sense of warmth and the lush, fragrant abundance of spring.
