Domas Mykolas Malinauskas (b. 1995) - born and raised in Kaunas, Lithuania, graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Sculpture (thesis supervisor - Henry B. Anderson). In his work, the artist explores stereotypes in the contemporary world and the existential questions and problems that arise from them. The sculptural objects focus on natural motifs that transform urban life, creating new parallels between the electronic-synthetic and "natural"-mythological worlds.
Recently, Mykolas has been focusing on pop culture signs, which surprisingly receive very little attention in contemporary Lithuanian sculpture - they are a testimony to our everyday life, to what we live by, to what unites us. And thanks to art, when taken out of context, they take on completely new meanings and give the viewer the opportunity to look at them with new eyes.
