More about this artwork

The sculpture depicts a creatively assembled mechanical figure resembling a mythical creature mounted on a simple pedestal. The primary body of the creature is formed from what appears to be a vintage, ornate meat grinder. Attached to this central body is a lengthy chain representing the hair, cascading from the top. Ingenious use of small metal parts and utensils form additional features like feathers or horns protruding from the head, adding a dynamic, whimsical aesthetic. The crank handle of the meat grinder extends outward, completing the figure with a sense of motion. Nearby, a smaller secondary element crafted from a coiled metal resembling a serpent sits on the base, accompanied by miniature tools and screws, contributing to the detailed industrial theme.

Artūras was born in 1963 in Anykščiai district, Viešintos, in an art and music environment. This is probably what led him to choose a profession in art. Now Artūras successfully creates sculptures in small forms, often using ready-made tools.

The style of his work is close to the steampunk cultural movement, but with a distinctive approach to it. His original ideas and tools from objects that once had a completely different life (purpose) return to a new contemporary time, evoking dual feelings. The resulting work extends the sensual connection between the former and the newly born object for a new emotional experience.

A good mastery of specific materials and the professional application of traditional and new technologies (special studies and long-term practice) produce a creative result. Artūrs' works are aesthetic, moving and stimulating positive emotions with a light dose of humour.

The artist, who has felt the romance of Victorian mechanisms and has mastered recycling, claims to have gained creative freedom and the ability to see things that do not exist in reality. The fusion of cultures from several epochs has an unexpected result for the author himself.

His civic stance is very significant in his work.He follows the principle of creating environmentally friendly art, using materials that are no longer used elsewhere and that are environmentally friendly, to create works with themes and plots that speak of a safe and peaceful environment.

Arthur's exhibitions do not go unnoticed. The works are acquired and appreciated by collectors. The works have been acquired by collectors and museums in Lithuania, Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, USA, Australia, China and other countries.

It is a pity that the author's personal modesty does not allow information about his creativity to spread more widely.
