More about this artwork

The painting depicts a woman seated on a white chair, her body relaxed and posture slightly slouched. She appears introspective or perhaps weary as she bows her head and rests her hands gently on her lap. The figure is painted with bold, expressive colors; her dress a deep black set against bright highlights of yellow and green that suggest light playing across her shoulders and arms. Her face is serene and simplified, with minimal detail, enhancing her enigmatic quality. The background, dark and almost merging with her dress, creates a sense of isolation around the woman, focusing all attention on her quiet moment of waiting.

"I was born in 1971, on April 7th, in vizgirdai village. In 1989, I graduated from Georgia High School. It so happened that the dream of becoming an artist came true only after 19 years, when I entered the Faculty of Arts of Šiauliai University.

Šiauliai University of Fine Arts (Graphics) bachelor's studies(2007 – 2011), Šiauliai University Arts (Painting) Master's degree (2011 –2013).

Since 2017 I became a member of the Artists' Union.

In my works, the genre of portraiture, figure prevails, I like characteristic portraits of ordinary people, where I have a goal not to simply reproduce the form, but to conduct a

My painting process I call a "study of the human soul", where I try to bring to the canvas surface the unfamiliar, deep and mysterious layer. For me, one of the essential tasks of portraiture is to keep close people alive in memory. So I try to look for this intimate closeness in the color gamut of the works, in clear and expressive strokes. Unconsciously, peculiar references of being appear, where I want to present the depths of psychological states to the viewer. I want to convey in my paintings the fact that there is nothing more real than a look at the viewer from the canvas to the viewer. Images, like memories, are born and die right here – in one plane.

My painting connects with a vital desire to analyze and present more than a figurative one. I want the picture to be like a living organ with its own life story."
