More about this artwork

The focal point of the painting is a grand, lush tree with a canopy brimming with bright, red apples. Underneath the tree stands a simple, round wooden table, upon which rests an open book. The verdant backdrop is filled with a line of tall, slender poplar trees stretching into the background, creating a natural rhythm that guides the eye across the canvas. The ground is dappled with sunlight and shadow, and scattered throughout the grass are small red flowers, adding vibrancy to the scene. In the distance, under the gentle embrace of the tree line, white specks that resemble sheep graze peacefully. The sky above is a gentle blue, suggesting an early morning or late afternoon serenity. This idyllic rural setting evokes a sense of calm and the beauty of a moment of solitude in nature.

Artist

"Reality and fantasy, seriousness and light irony, romance—these elements are all woven into my work. The imagery, dreams, and visions of childhood mingle with the realities of the present, resonating not only with me but also echoed in the critiques of my pieces. This suggests that I touch upon and convey the emotions of others. I have been companions with the brush for over 40 years," says artist V. Valius regarding his creations.

The artist commenced his exhibition journey in 1983, organizing six solo exhibitions in Lithuania and contributing to numerous group exhibitions.

V. Valius's works grace private collections across various European countries, the USA, and Australia. Additionally, the artist showcased his creations in art fairs in Hamburg and Berlin.
