Flowers, trees, and the sea—I'm fascinated by their peace, majesty, perfection, and simplicity. They serve as a counterweight to the city, technology, and the endless flow of information. I take many photos and paint watercolors because I can't help but capture the essence of nature that catches my eye. This is how my sketches are born and how I prepare for painting. I strive to convey this feeling and the color combinations in my canvases. I also invite viewers into the landscape, encouraging them to experience the warmth of melting snow, the calmness of an evening by the seashore, the exhilaration of spring blossoms, and the fragrance of apples.
I want to rebel a little against the modern multiplicity of postmodernity and avoid creating mindless repetitions. Therefore, each new work becomes a unique artistic quest. Can a landscape be modern, or should it remain classic? Must it include a horizon, sky, and earth? What is the significance of space in the landscape, and what is the color of space? I aim to explore these questions about the landscape—what remains alive, interesting, and precious about it today.
I am from Klaipėda but have been living and creating in Vilnius for many years. I studied painting individually with artist Antanas Beinaravičius, later with artist Vytautas Poškas, and further deepened my knowledge at the Vilnius J. Vienožinskis Art School and the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
