More about this artwork

The painting presents a serene and misty representation of Trakai, as viewed through a window speckled with raindrops. These droplets are meticulously depicted, with reflections on their surfaces that suggest a depth and complexity to the seemingly quiet scene outside. The foreground shows a subtle yet intriguing detail: a clothesline running horizontally, adorned with a few small clothespins. Below it, on the window sill, rests a potted plant, adding a touch of life and greenery to the composition. In the background, the outlines of Trakai’s historical architecture loom, their forms blurred and softened by the thick, atmospheric fog, enhancing the painting's dreamlike and reflective quality.

Danielius Rusys painting is filled with the spirit of surreal fairy tales: disproportionate figures, interesting angles, people with the heads of various animals or no facial features at all. The paintings seem to have faded away, with a range of pastel tones, in which brighter lines, circles and ornaments appear.
