More about this artwork

The painting is a vivid triptych featuring three panels filled with dynamic and swirling movements expressed through bold and fluid brushstrokes. In each panel, a figure engages with a round, flat surface that could suggest a dancefloor or platform, upon which they appear to be either balancing or performing. In the left panel, the dominant colors are ice blue and white, overlaid with splashes of bright pink and muted teal. The figure is bent at the waist, arms extended downward, touching the edge of the platform. The stance suggests an action frozen in time, perhaps in the midst of a dance or acrobatic maneuver. The center panel is more intense, with deep reds and chaotic lines forming a whirl of activity around the figure. Here, the figure stretches in a dramatic backbend over the platform, one arm reaching upward as if pushing against unseen forces, the other grasping the edge. Surrounding the figure are numerous abstract shapes and symbols, including spirals and heart-like forms, lending a sense of passion or turmoil. In the right panel, muted grays and silvers form the background, with sharp contrasts of hot pink and soft yellows creating a sense of depth and motion. The figure mirrors the pose in the first panel but is inverted, with the head pointed downward and legs extending skyward, suggesting a dynamic, gravity-defying movement.Throughout all panels, there appears to be a recurring theme of fluidity and transformation, with the figures and their environment merging in a dance of color and form. The use of textured layers and energetic lines conveys a sense of rhythmic motion, possibly exploring themes of dance, balance, and the interplay between structure and spontaneity.

Tadas Tručilauskas’s artwork stands out for its unique blend of spiritual iconography with modern metaphors, most prominently the motif of the human-machine transformer. His canvases often display symbolic imagery—portraits of figures like the Buddha, Christ, and the Holy Family, alongside ritual wheels that embody meditative themes and existential cycles. In weaving these components together, he initiates a conversation between ancient spiritual legacies and present-day philosophical questions, intensifying the richness and resonance of his visual storytelling.

Tručilauskas places particular emphasis on the human experience, devoting considerable exploration to the philosophical facets of childhood and adolescence. The frequent appearance of children, teenagers, and young women in his work investigates the recurring motifs of duality, vitality, and the ongoing conflict between innocence and experience. Through these portrayals, he intimates that, regardless of societal evolution or the relentless progression of time, the core of human existence remains enigmatic, perpetually fluctuating between disorder and peace, purity and moral compromise, romance and sorrow.

His artistic methods are marked by lively, psychedelic flourishes—vivid, dynamic lines that evoke subconscious territories and frequently challenge how the viewer perceives the image. These techniques, calling to mind both optical art and kaleidoscopic visuals, serve to simultaneously mask and unveil deeper strata within his works. This nuanced exchange draws the viewer in, prompting them to reflect more profoundly on the ideas and connections embedded within his art.

Fine gestures, unconventional perspectives, and subtle facial expressions in Tručilauskas’s figures indicate the influence of artists such as Diego Velázquez, Raphael, and Salvador Dalí. Referencing these masters, his work forges a link between the past and the present in art, revitalizing timeless philosophical themes. Tručilauskas began his professional artistic path in 2017 after earning his degree from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. His pieces have been showcased broadly across Lithuania, featured twice at the international Art Vilnius fair, and acquired by esteemed collections like the Lewben Art Foundation and MO Museum. In 2019, his inclusion as a finalist for the Young Painter Prize underscored his growing presence in today’s art world.
