More about this artwork

In the painting "Subtle Friendship" by Jūratė Slyžė, a delicate and serene scene unfolds, featuring a female figure with classic East Asian features, dressed in traditional attire. Her attire is intricately patterned, complementing her refined and composed demeanor. She wears a large, stylized hat, adding to her elegant silhouette. The background, rendered in warm, earthy tones, subtly features floral motifs, enhancing the tranquil and intimate atmosphere of the artwork. Facing the woman is a fish, depicted with a level of detail that emphasizes its scales and fins, appearing almost ethereal as it floats in the space beside her. The interaction between the woman and the fish, along with the floral elements, contributes to a sense of quiet companionship and mutual respect, embodying the painting's title, "Subtle Friendship." The overall composition is balanced and calming, inviting the viewer to contemplate the serene interaction between human and nature.

Artist

Jūratė Sližytė (Slyžė)

„Creativity is a constant observation of the world, the transformation of accumulated sensations through one's personal prism into concrete material. During the work process, the thought, the vision becomes a specific object or work, which becomes the connection between the creator and the viewer.

To create art means to study diligently, to improve, to search for new forms of expression throughout one's life, to try to achieve one's "Truth" and to never stop. That "Truth" is usually very simple, but the road to it is long and often winding.”

Jūratė works with various graphic techniques, water-colours, acrylic, creates various objects, also from recycled materials. Every artist has their own philosophy when creating their works.
