More about this artwork

In the tranquil yet somber scene depicted, two aged boats rest abandoned on a barren landscape, evoking a profound sense of desolation and neglect. The boat on the left sits slightly tilted; its hull, a deep shade of red merging into black, exudes a forgotten grandeur, contrasting starkly with its desolate surroundings. The other, smaller boat, painted a pale, washed-out yellow, appears tired and weary, its body resting directly on the ground, hinting at many years of disuse. Both boats are set against a backdrop painted with the soft glow of a setting or rising sun, casting a warm yet melancholic light across the sky and reflecting off the mirrored surface of shallow puddles scattered among patches of dark, muddy earth. This setting suggests a once-bustling marina now faded into quiet solitude, underscored by the absence of any human presence, leaving only these weathered relics to whisper stories of a livelier past. The painter skillfully uses the contrast between the vibrant yet sorrowful sky and the stark, foreboding earth to emphasize themes of abandonment and the relentless passage of time.

Artist

Eugis Eidukaitis was born in Russia, Sibir on November, 1965 in a family of Lithuanian
exile. He grew up and spent big part of his life in Moldova, Chisinau. First touch to art started
there in Chisinau art school. Artist ended University and got medicine diplome, but art and
paintings were always a hobby and sometimes source of livelihood.
In 2000 he came back to Lithuania and started to draw and paint even more. Art became
constat thing in life.

His favourite genre is the urban or natural landscape, but he is not tempted to romanticise or embellish them. Nevertheless, one can sense that his view of reality is forgiving and gentle. He looks for a distinctive beauty in each motif, which is revealed through the contrast of light and shadow, the vivid, soft colours.

Paintings and watercolor adorn dozens of private collections.
