More about this artwork

The painting captures a serene, natural landscape shrouded in the subtle embrace of rising fog. The foreground is dominated by a winding path, possibly a river, bordered by enriching shades of brown and hints of amber, suggesting either a dawn or dusk light. This path gently meanders through a vibrant tapestry of greenery, marked by various shades of green and sporadic bursts of yellow and orange, indicating lush foliage and perhaps the changing colors of the season. Above this naturalistic essence, the middle ground hosts a stretch of darker blue-green, potentially a denser patch of forest or a rise in the terrain enveloping the scene. The horizon line dissolves into a mystical expanse of blue, layered and deep, hinting at distant mountains or hilltops merging with the sky. This vastness is topped with a heavy, overcast sky in shades of orange and burnt red, suggesting a thick blanket of clouds catching the last or first light. The entire scene, while tranquil and isolated, vibrates with the textured strokes and rich color saturation typical of palette knife painting, giving a tactile sense of the misty air and lush environment. The aura is contemplative, inviting the viewer to pause and absorb the quiet beauty of a natural scene possibly untouched by human presence.

Artist

Born and raised in 1965 in the village of Srėbiškis, the artist, as you will notice if you look at his work, often draws inspiration and ideas from nature, perfect in itself.

In Vytautas Laisons' landscapes, you will not find any exoticism, no high mountains, no impressive rocks, no unseen plants. On the contrary, the landscape we see in the painting is completely mundane, the same landscape we would find when we leave the city, and yet different. It would seem that we have seen fields, lake shores, rivers running into the distance so many times, but Vytautas Laisonas manages to give even a path through a meadow a new and attractive look, because the artist sees our familiar nature from a different angle.

Sometimes the artist seems to be looking at the landscape from a perch in the grass, sometimes from a high hill, sometimes from under a clump of trees, and sometimes by wading into a narrow stream. Each landscape here not only documents reality, but conveys a mood. The sky and the water are always useful for this purpose. The swollen sky and even the bluish greenery remind us of a muggy summer afternoon when the rain is about to fall, while the clear sky reflected in the lake brings complete peace. The theme of water unites all the author's work, whether it is a lake, a river or a narrow river. It is the eternal source of life.

Naturally, the full range of green and blue shades dominates the artist's paintings, but they are so inexhaustible and natural that they never tire, and their soothing and harmonious combination blends perfectly into the interior.
