Lightness is an essential feature of Birutė Ašmonienė's painting. She likes to work in the open air, in nature, where the artist is limited by time, so the brushstrokes on the canvas are expressive, fast, they are never blended, on the contrary, you can see every touch of the brush; the paintings are not overloaded with unnecessary details and preserve the sketch-like liveliness and freshness, which is sometimes much more charming than the perfection, which has been honed in the studio for weeks.
Birutė Ašmonienė started painting in the adult group of the J. Stauskaitė Children and Youth Art School. Later, she continued her studies at the Savickas Art School in the studio "Baltas kubas".
The author gained knowledge from artists V. Binkis, V. Ajauskas, A. Baltrūnas, A. Pakalka, K. Dineikaitė and others.
Annual summer plein-air workshops, active participation in group exhibitions, and the activities of the painters' group "Nine Winds" encouraged and still encourage her to paint, to persistently search for a distinctive style, and to learn about her own creative powers.
During more than ten years of her creative career, the author has participated in thirty group exhibitions. Her works have been exhibited in art galleries, libraries, the Seimas, the Government Palace, Užutrakis Manor, the National Philharmonic and elsewhere.
