More about this artwork

The painting showcases a cluster of vibrant pansies in hues of purple, pink, and white, each with a distinct central yellow marking. These flowers emerge spiritedly from a backdrop of mixed earthy tones, interspersed with pine needles and twigs that cover the forest floor. To the right, a solitary pine cone sits nestled among the foliage, adding a touch of the wilderness. The brushwork gives textural depth to the scene, highlighting the interplay of light and shadow, which accentuates the natural setting and the delicate yet resilient pansies thriving within it.

Artist

Onutė Juškienė's landscapes are distinguished by their serene colour palette and the idyll that goes along with it; all the images are transported by the author into the space of dreams, and often the image seems like the most beautiful memory, with a slight air of nostalgia. The artist's gaze is wide, encompassing vast panoramas, and at the same time very attentive, observant, noticing the smallest details right here, underfoot.

The author's landscapes are naturally interwoven with human figures, children and women, figures and animals, which is extremely rare in the contemporary painting context. The artist often takes on purely animalistic paintings, where she paints animals with such care and attention that they become portraits of a kind. The women she depicts are mysterious and unpredictable, gazing off into the distance beyond the frame of the painting without letting their thoughts alert them. And although they appear to be completely calm, you can often guess the drama going on inside.

And what we like most is that the paintings are made with such obvious love. Every shade is felt and carries a message, every brushstroke is polished and placed exactly where it needs to be, no brutality, no aggression, just a lyrical homage to nature.
