More about this artwork

The painting depicts an intricate and surreal formation of organic and floral elements intertwined in a dynamic and almost chaotic manner. At the core, a central structure resembling a distorted, flower-like form serves as a nucleus from which various shapes and textures radiate. Surrounding it are clusters of what appear to be stones or knotted roots, some smooth and round, others gnarled and rough. These elements seem to morph into or emanate from large, twisted limbs or tentacles that curl and stretch across the composition, blurring the lines between the floral and the stone-like. The palette is dominated by muted greys and whites, with subtle hints of browns and creams, enhancing the sculpture-like quality of the forms. This amalgamation creates a dreamlike, almost otherworldly scene that captivates and puzzles the viewer, inviting them to decipher its hidden meanings or simply lose themselves in its complex beauty.

Artist

The hyperrealist Saulius Leviška's works convey his search for answers to the great mysteries of the world.

These searches are manifested in two ways on his canvases: in portraits, where the heads of the women depicted are surrounded by elaborate labyrinths like thoughts, invisible layers of the subconscious; and in abstract compositions, reminiscent of an image through a microscope. Both explore questions of human being, the creation of the world, the beginning of the beginning. But there is a key point here - nowhere does the viewer get a direct answer, thus suggesting that the real truth, the real answers, transcend human perception.

As you may have noticed, most of the paintings are untitled, only with ciphers. It is very important to the artist that the viewer has as much freedom of interpretation as possible, which is why he deliberately does not give his works titles - he says that they limit the imagination. So don't limit yourself, fantasize and enjoy!
