More about this artwork

The painting depicts a surreal and evocative scene, infused with a blend of classical and contemporary elements. In the foreground, a muscular figure with the wings of an angel is seen gripping a large, transparent butterfly net. The figure, dressed in a draped orange cloth, kneels beside a colossal, fragmented stone head resting on the barren ground. The stone head is adorned with graffiti that reads "We Will Be Back," "No Future," "God Is Love," and several other markings, including a peace symbol and an anarchy symbol. In the background, a traditional, gothic architectural structure resembling a cathedral tower stands solemnly amidst a rugged landscape. This structure is situated near a cliff, overlooking a dark chasm that divides the scene. Additionally, the sky above is animated with multiple hot air balloons, painted in vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow, which add a contrasting touch of whimsy and lightness to the otherwise somber and contemplative mood set by the rest of the imagery. The overall scene is shrouded in a mix of cloud and light, suggesting either dawn or dusk, adding to the dramatic and timeless quality of the tableau.
