More about this artwork

The painting captures two manatees in a serene and intimate embrace, floating against a gradient background that shifts from a golden hue at the top to subtle green and blue tones at the bottom. The manatees are depicted with a gentle, almost humanoid expression, their faces turned towards each other as if sharing a quiet moment of connection. Their bodies are robust and rounded, painted in smooth shades of gray and brown, merging fluidly with their aquatic environment. The composition and the soft blending of colors evoke a sense of calm and serenity, highlighting the graceful, slow-moving nature of these gentle marine creatures. Their entwined posture and the peace in their expressions suggest a deep familial or social bond, emphasizing the known sociable behavior of manatees.

Artist

Maksym Golovko lives and works in Kaunas since 2012.

In his works he tries to express ideas through images. He is most interested in the themes of human relationships, communication, loneliness and attitude to the world, the relationship between man and nature. The author often emphasises man's detachment from nature, distancing, exploitation, when man, who should be a part of nature himself, becomes a bystander or even an oppressor. The artist usually chooses an attractive illustrative style, which is well suited to the implied irony, and the protagonists of his work are usually not human beings but animals.
