More about this artwork

In the painting, there is a scene that captures a surreal and desolate landscape. Dominating the foreground is a lizard-like creature standing on rugged terrain. The lizard is elongated, with its body stretched across the canvas, detailed with lifelike scales in shades of brown and grey. Remarkably, it features a vibrant duo of collars or frills around its neck; one collar blooms in bright blue and the other in deep orange, giving it an almost regal appearance. Its head is turned to the side, as if looking upwards or listening intently, suggesting a moment of alertness or curiosity. The background consists of a flat horizon under a vast, muted yellow sky that hints at a setting or rising sun. The simplicity of this sky contrasts sharply with the intricate detail of the lizard. Off to the right in the middle ground, two dark, rectangular columns stand vertically. These stark, pillar-like structures add a touch of mystery and man-made ambiguity to the otherwise natural scene. The overall atmosphere is one of stillness and an eerie calm, inviting the viewer to ponder the relationship between the natural creature and its strange, desolate environment.

Emilija Šileikaitė (2001)is art creator, conservator and restorer. She started practicing and sharing his paintings in 2016. Since then, he has organized personal and group exhibitions, gathered a group of private art collectors in Lithuania and the foreign market and developed her personal style, which is expressed through the prism of surrealism. In her works, the author often tries to convey the emotions and misunderstandings of modern and old world women. Also, the painter is engaged in art conservation and restoration in Lithuania and abroad. She restored lamps, furniture, paintings, gilding, contributed to the restoration of a 16th century wall sculpture in one of Lisbon's museums.
