More about this artwork

The painting portrays the Vilnius Choral Synagogue, captured in a vibrant and calm setting. The synagogue is prominently featured in the center, exhibiting a majestic arched entrance and a large dome that crowns the building. It is constructed with a warm, pale palette of earth tones that contrasts subtly with the bright blue sky, dotted with fluffy, white clouds. The facade of the synagogue displays ornamental details, including circular motifs and what appears to be a Star of David. Surrounding the building, there are hints of urban life, like other structures and a blue fence that seems to enclose a tranquil street. A small tree to the left adds a touch of nature, enhancing the serene and picturesque atmosphere of the scene.

Artist

"I was born in Vilnius in 1959.

I was always into drawing. In 1981  I graduated from the Vienožinskis 4-year art school in Vilnius, where such famous artists as A. Švėgžda and I. Piekuras taught.

The main genres of my work are landscape, still life, portrait. My favorite themes: people and nature. I think these are two inseparable things. Through my prism I reflect in my works what is important to me. Motifs of the beloved Vilnius also prevail in the painting."
