More about this artwork

The painting features an abstract and surreal portrayal using a stark black and white palette. The central focus seems to be a distorted face or mask, with three main eye-like elements that draw the viewer's gaze. These eyes appear either terrified or aggressive, surrounded by swirling, shadowy forms that suggest movement and transformation. The upper part of the composition resembles a gaping mouth or opening, adding a sense of depth or possibly a void. The overall effect is both disconcerting and compelling, playing on themes of human identity and emotional expression.

Karolina Galinauskaitė (1998) graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts with a Bachelor's degree in Site Specific Art (fresco-mosaic). She is interested in self-analysis, the power of the subconscious, the deformed image. The artist's abstractions are inspired by mountains, deserts, insects, silence, bodies of water and swamps.

Karolina expresses all this with a minimalistic color palette, the brushstroke here intertwines with the line. Through the deformations of the depicted bodies, the author draws attention to the mystery that surrounds us and the bottoms and heights of imagination.
