More about this artwork

The painting features a vivid collage of abstract elements and colors. The background is divided into distinct segments of color, including a large portion of pastel pink on the bottom, a creamy beige above, and a bright yellow at the top. On the right side, prominent vertical blue and black stripes stretch from top to bottom. Throughout the composition, various abstract forms and squiggles are scattered. There is a series of what appears to be sail-like images in black outline towards the center bottom, over the pink background. In the middle of the painting, there’s an intriguing multicolored abstract shape that resembles a profile of a face, highlighted with an eye-like circle and accented with lines and smaller shapes. Additional elements like a red arc with small blue forms underneath it appear near the bottom of the painting, invoking a sense of movement or suspension. The painting bristles with energy and a chaotic sense of structure, drawing the eye across its varied components and textures. Overall, it presents a rich tapestry of abstract imagery, inviting exploration and interpretation.

Artist

The paintings of Simon Skrabulis offer the opportunity to enjoy the essence of painting.

In painting, the artist boldly unleashes not only the paint that lurks in the tubes, but also intuition, imagination, eye and hand. This multifaceted, uninhibited approach gives the works unique features that, in the Lithuanian context, make it impossible to confuse S. Skrabulis with anyone else.

The author masterfully manages the frenzied colours, whose energy attracts the gaze. Paint in the works not only gives colour - it infuses form, layers in tangible strokes or curls up like a thread. This is why Skrabulis's canvases take on unusual features that entice us to experience the great explosion of colour.
