About the author
Marius Kavolis is a Lithuanian contemporary artist, born in 1987. The young artist's abstracts are expressive and captivating. Marius is inspired by artists such as Jackson Pollock, Albert Oehlen and Sam Francis. In terms of colouring, his influence is Jean Michel Basquiat, and for painting techniques, Gerhard Richter. In 2014, Marius presented his first solo exhibition in Lithuania - 12 1⁄2. The exhibition is 13 works, which best represents the young artist's expression and identity, as well as the beginning of his creative path. '12 1⁄2' or '12 and a little more' - is like a claim to development, incompleteness, further movement, when the success 'explosion' has already happened. It is a prospect for the future when 12 months of a year is not enough. Marius also exhibited in the contemporary art fair, Affordable Art Fair Milan, Italy. He became well noticed and highly estimated among art collectors. Then, in 2015, Marius opened his solo exhibition in Moscow. After great success in the Russian market, later in autumn 2015, he held his solo exhibition in the international contemporary art fair "Cosmoscow", Moscow. Marius Kavolis became a record holder in November 2015, at the charity auction in London on the commemoration of Lithuanian's independence. The end of 2016 was also meaningful for Marius - the artist exposed his works in Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum, whose history covers more than a century and holds a significant collection of classical and modern art.
