About the author
Larissa Uvarova is an accomplished artist celebrated for her abstract oil paintings, which she primarily creates on medium and large canvases. She often works with dimensions such as 100x100 cm, 120x120 cm, and 200x150 cm, utilizing these expansive surfaces to delve into the interplay of color and motion. Uvarova approaches her craft with meticulous care, gradually layering her compositions to produce complex color harmonies that communicate a sense of movement and vibrancy, echoing the pulsating energy of the Universe. Her devotion to both color and simple forms lies at the heart of her artistic expression, as she seeks to craft works that mesmerize viewers through their vividness and poetic presence.
At the core of her latest body of work, "DEEP INSIDE," are explorations of divinity, love, trust, and deep gratitude. Uvarova conveys a spiritual sensibility that is personal rather than aligned with formal religious practice, engaging in an ongoing inner dialogue throughout the creative act. She views her studio as a sanctuary, a place where she can connect with her innermost self and the wider Universe—a sentiment that has grown stronger since relocating from Kyiv to Lithuania. With the looming reality of war, her emotions have become more pronounced, bringing greater sensitivity and boldness of color to her Lithuanian period.
Through her dedication, Uvarova has gained international recognition. Her art has been shown in esteemed venues across Europe and North America and has found its way into private collections in the USA, Great Britain, Europe, Japan, and Ukraine. A highlight of her career came during the 2023 Summit in Vilnius, when her painting "GOD, protects Ukraine. War 2022," the first she completed in Lithuania, was chosen by UKREATEHUB and the American Embassy and presented to Joe Biden's team in Washington. This act served as a powerful symbol of support and the resilient spirit of Ukraine.
Uvarova’s exhibition record is both lengthy and impressive. Recent highlights include a solo exhibition at Pylimo galerija in Vilnius (2024), group exhibitions at ART COMPENSA in Lithuania and the Luxembourg Art Fair, as well as participation in the official program of the Venice Biennale. Her solo show "From the Deep" in Kyiv, alongside collaborations and group shows in Toronto, Madrid, Palermo, and various locations throughout Ukraine, also stand out. Each of these exhibitions reveals the evolution of Uvarova’s artistic journey and her steadfast commitment to using art as a conduit for profound emotional and spiritual exploration.
