About the author
Rasa Vasilevičiūtė is an artist from Lithuania whose expertise spans metal art, jewellery, graphic art, and painting. In 1995, she completed her studies at the Telšiai Applied Arts Higher School with a specialization in Metal Art and Jewellery. During her time there, her instructors in drawing and painting included Romualdas Pučekas. The following year, she continued her education at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where she chose Graphic Art as her major. By 2000, she had finished her degree, creating her graduation project under the supervision of Raimondas Miknevičius.
Following her formal education, Rasa Vasilevičiūtė gained practical experience working in the jewellery sector. For several years, she was part of JP Manufactory, where she contributed to jewellery production. Yet, her artistic curiosity led her beyond metalworking. From 2009 to 2014, she immersed herself in traditional East Asian art, studying at the Sumi-E and Calligraphy Studio "Tuso kelias," led by Dalia Doksaite. During this time, she participated in a number of group sumi-e exhibitions, which enriched her artistic perspective.
Rasa Vasilevičiūtė has demonstrated her artistic versatility through multiple solo exhibitions. Among the highlights is a 1998 jewellery exhibition at the Lubeck Town House for Baltic Art Schools Students, which brought her recognition. In 2000, she organized exhibitions in Vilnius that focused on graphic arts, prints, and drawings. Between 2011 and 2013, she exhibited her brush ink paintings at several shows in Vilnius. Later, in 2017, her "Portlets" series—composed of oil paintings—was displayed in Vilnius, Zarasai, and Kaunas.
Since 2018, Rasa Vasilevičiūtė has committed herself primarily to painting, concentrating on oil portraits and other creative projects. Her oeuvre is characterized by a continual search for new techniques and materials, influenced by her foundation in applied arts, graphic art, and calligraphy. She continues to actively pursue her artistic development.
