Antanas Virginijus Krištopaitis, a Lithuanian artist, was born in 1948 in the Klaipėda district. He took up painting at just sixteen, remaining engaged with art throughout his life, even while pursuing technical studies. After graduating from Klaipėda Polytechnic in 1968, he spent several years residing and working in Riga. While living in Latvia, he attended courses in drawing, painting, and composition at the Latvian Academy, which helped him further develop his artistic talent and vision.

From 1974 onward, Krištopaitis has been actively involved in the Lithuanian art scene. Throughout his career, he has presented around 50 solo exhibitions in countries such as Lithuania, Russia, Latvia, and Japan. These shows have enabled him to share his distinctive vision and evolving style with a wide range of audiences, earning recognition within the broader art community.

In 2009, the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture officially recognized his artistic accomplishments by awarding him the title of "art creator." Krištopaitis is known for his experimentation with a variety of techniques and materials; he has painted in oils and pastels, and currently uses acrylics. He characterizes his creative process as a journey into the subconscious, typically beginning with figurative themes, then shifting into abstraction before returning to more concrete imagery. Both nature and the human form inspire him, with a particular focus on women, whom he sees as inseparable from the natural world.

Krištopaitis aims to produce works that radiate energy and positivity. For him, painting is more than a commercial enterprise; it is a spiritual quest and an escape from the anxieties of daily life. Through his paintings, he seeks to imbue philosophical meaning and emotional depth, utilizing color and shape to convey inner experiences and prompt reflection.
