About the author
Rasa Bartaševičiūtė, a contemporary painter from Lithuania, earned her painting degree from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2005. Since that time, she has been deeply engaged in artistic pursuits, receiving recognition within Lithuania, including the distinction of winning an art competition that gave her the opportunity to showcase her work at the Italian Biennale. Rasa not only actively participates in group exhibitions but also organizes solo shows, with her paintings reaching viewers worldwide.
When reflecting on her development as an artist, Rasa identifies two primary stages: her initial period and her present series, entitled "About People." In her earlier years, she was devoted to investigating the interplay between colors and the use of energetic brushstrokes. This stage was defined by her search for innovative methods of reflective painting, which drew her toward expressive minimalism and an exploration of the notion of nothingness, uncovering the countless layers that exist in daily life.
Her current stage, "About People," marks a transition to more figurative subjects. Rasa shifts her focus to those around her, producing works that probe into their experiences and emotional states. In these paintings, she examines human connections, emotions, and her own presence among others, aiming to encapsulate both shared and personal stories within her art.
By navigating between abstraction and figuration, Rasa Bartaševičiūtė continues to draw inspiration from her environment, evolving her technique while nurturing a persistent curiosity about human nature. Her commitment to participating in both domestic and international exhibitions has enabled her distinctive artistic perspective to connect with a diverse public, enhancing contemporary art's broader conversation.
