More about this artwork

The painting depicts an interior setting dominated by elements of classical architecture that seem to be defying conventional structure. A tall stained-glass window with a vivid blue background and a simple, stylized floral pattern in lighter blue takes up the left side of the composition. Adjacent to this, elements of disrupted order are visible: columns and architraves float in space, one of which aggressively topples towards the viewer, as if caught in mid-movement. These architectural fragments are rendered in shades of gray, contrasting sharply with the energetic swirls of orange and red flames that appear to emanate or react to the falling structures. The flames add a dynamic, almost living presence to the scene, suggesting chaos or transformation. The floor is depicted in a perspective view, showing gray tiles that lead towards the tumultuous central activity, enhancing the depth and the unsettling mood of the painting.

Artist

"I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in fresco mosaics and am currently studying for a Master's degree. I worked for two years in mural restoration. I am looking for mysticism in my life, so my paintings have a mood close to magical realism. For me, painting is wordless thinking, so I put together fragments of thoughts intuitively, obeying my inner desires, so that they can later come together to form a visual whole," says the artist.

Jolanta's works have a mysterious, sometimes even slightly eerie mood. She likes to depict old shamans, cemeteries, old parks, decaying evidence of human activity, suggesting that we are far from being the masters of this world. Her work is about revealing that there is something more than what we see, that the elements of nature are beyond our control and unknown to us.
