More about this artwork

In the blue-tone print titled "Still life," several objects ordinarily found in a domestic setting are layered against a textured background, suggesting a tabletop or similar surface. The composition features assorted glassware and other items, emphasizing their forms and the light reflecting off and through them. There are at least three prominent glass pieces: a slender, vertically elongated bottle, a bulbous vase with a narrow neck, and a classic stemmed wine glass. At the forefront, below the glass items, lies a fruit, perhaps a segmented orange, distinctly depicted with its wedges clearly separated. This is flanked by garlic cloves, their papery skins and individual segments detailed enough to evince a tactile sense of their rough exteriors. The interplay of light and shadow across these subjects gives them a dramatic presence, enhancing the textures and shapes within this still life arrangement. The ghostly absence of vivid color focuses the viewer’s attention on the forms and the quality of light around and through each object, resulting in a quietly resonant scene typical of the still life genre.

Artist

Graphic artworks are the agent that binds my interest in cinema, books and daily contemplation of contrasts. I grew up in a distant place  near trains, forests and long twilights. My gaze is straight and ironic, my works are witnessing life itself.

In 2007, I obtained a graphic designer specialty at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.

I have been creating for over 15 years.
