More about this artwork

In the painting, a quaint, warmly lit bistro named "Le St Andre" occupies the foreground, its lights casting a welcoming glow against the damp pavement. The bistro has a classic red awning under which several small tables are hinting at a cosy outdoor seating arrangement. The mood is damp and reflective, suggested by the glistening, wet streets which reflect the bistro’s charming lights and neon sign.Surrounding the bistro, tall and looming urban buildings faded into the dark tones of the background contribute to the painting's moody atmosphere. Dark silhouettes of trees frame the café, enhancing the urban evening setting. Several figures can be glimpsed: some are near the café, suggesting patrons or passersby moving through this rainy cityscape. The scene feels both vivid and subdued, with contrasts between light and dark creating a dynamic yet intimate urban evening scene, inviting the viewer to imagine the soft sounds of a city in the rain and the warmth of the bistro in the cool night.

Artist

Eugis Eidukaitis was born in Russia, Sibir on November, 1965 in a family of Lithuanian
exile. He grew up and spent big part of his life in Moldova, Chisinau. First touch to art started
there in Chisinau art school. Artist ended University and got medicine diplome, but art and
paintings were always a hobby and sometimes source of livelihood.
In 2000 he came back to Lithuania and started to draw and paint even more. Art became
constat thing in life.

His favourite genre is the urban or natural landscape, but he is not tempted to romanticise or embellish them. Nevertheless, one can sense that his view of reality is forgiving and gentle. He looks for a distinctive beauty in each motif, which is revealed through the contrast of light and shadow, the vivid, soft colours.

Paintings and watercolor adorn dozens of private collections.
