More about this artwork

The painting portrays a stylized female figure resembling a traditional depiction of an angel, yet marked by a modern, almost surreal twist. Her head is turned to one side, displaying a serene profile with delicate facial features under a unique hairstyle composed of pale orange, curl-like spirals that evoke a sense of softness and light. Her skin appears luminous and smooth, enhancing her ethereal quality. She wears a translucent garment adorned with botanical patterns that merge seamlessly with the rich floral background engulfing her. This background features deep shades of mauve and dark violet, with leaves and flowers hinted in a palette of deep orange and soft rust tones, suggesting a lush, densely layered tapestry. Her hands are gently lifted outward and slightly up, as if she is in the midst of an unspoken communication or offering. This gesture complements her calm and slightly introspective expression, suggesting a moment of pause, grace, or benevolence. Her entire form and setting resonate with a sense of mystic tranquility and an intimate connection with nature.

Artist

Looking at Aurika's paintings, viewers sometimes get the impression that perhaps the artist herself is an extraterrestrial being, but when asked about the main character of her work, Aurika will say that her angels are not biblical; they are metaphors for the goodness that humans spread. These angels bring gifts, protect homes, speak to birds, travel through the seasons and spread hope. The artist herself is also an eternal optimist for whom the glass is always more full than empty, so it is only natural that her positivity is reflected in her work.

"My Angel is always with me, and it's a pleasure when my paintings bring joy, peace and warmth to other people. I don't like publicity: my art is my life! I am happy to paint and to know that my paintings bring joy to people's hearts. We all have our Angels, and they are always by our side," says the artist.

Aurika works with an ancient, now forgotten tempera technique that requires skill and care. The artist herself says that creating details is a kind of meditation for her - she spends a lot of time on it, but at the same time manages to keep her work uncluttered, balanced and elegant. Also, the details always carry a coded message that everyone can decipher in their own way. For example, the black, dark blue in the works is a metaphor for space, while the horizontal lines divide the painting in time (now-later) and space (Earth-unknown).

And the most amazing thing is that, after so many years of working on the same theme, Aurika's paintings are never repetitive, and she is never short of ideas. She says that she often dreams about her paintings and then rushes to the studio to start a new work before the dream  dissapears.
