More about this artwork

The painting exhibits a dreamlike and somewhat melancholic mood, portrayed through a swirl of subdued and somber earth tones. A dominant presence in the artwork is a profile view of a man’s face, depicted with soft, flowing lines that suggest a sense of movement or transformation. His expression is contemplative, almost sorrowful, as if he’s lost in deep thought or burdened by the weight of unseen worries.Surrounding the figure, the background melds into what appears to be a distorted landscape or a series of abstract forms. There are suggestions of shadowy figures and forms that might resemble distant trees or reflections in water, creating a feeling of depth and mystery. The entire scene seems to be enveloped in a misty, ethereal haze, emphasizing a sense of isolation or introspection. The use of dripping paint and blurred features instills a dynamic texture to the canvas, enhancing the overall atmospheric quality of the painting. This effect brings an element of the transient or the fleeting, as if the scene and its components are dissolving or shifting before the viewer's eyes. The painting seems to capture a fleeting moment in time, an introspective pause in an otherwise continuous flow of existence.

Raimundas Dzimidavičius (1960) is a painter who constantly balances between abstraction and drawing. The spectrum of themes of the prolific author is quite wide, but the most prominent line is the line of searching for the human soul. The artist is interested in the coming and going of man from this world, his transience, the question of the meaning of life. Often, angels, beings from beyond, appear in his works; this world and the beyond are merged into one. The author emphasises man's striving to seek something beyond the everyday and to spread goodness.

R. Dzimidavičius has been studying at the Martinaitis Art School since 1974.

From 1981-1984 he studied applied decorative arts at ZNUI in Moscow.

For 15 years he worked as a painter and sculptor in the art workshop of the Anapa branch of the Russian Art Foundation.

Since 2000 he has been living in Lithuania as a free artist.
