More about this artwork

The painting depicts a serene, wintry landscape, seemingly at the cusp of spring as hinted by the title "Winter Buds 2." The scene is dominated by a muted palette of blues, greens, and hints of earthy tones, invoking a quiet, contemplative atmosphere. Central to the composition are delicate, bare tree branches that stretch across the canvas, their fine details meticulously rendered to show the intricate network of twigs and budding leaves.Amidst the branches, small bursts of color emerge from the buds, suggesting the beginning of new life. These buds are rendered in soft pinks, vibrant reds, and touches of purple, bringing a gentle warmth to the otherwise cool tones of the painting. The background boasts a dreamlike quality, with abstract forms and strokes of color that may represent the sky or a reflection in water, adding depth and intricacy to the tranquil scene. The lower section of the painting subtly mirrors the branches above, possibly suggesting a reflection in a body of water beneath. This reflective quality is enhanced by vertical streaks of paint that mimic the fall of rain or the drizzle of melting snow, blurring the line between the real and the reflected. Occasional specks of brighter color, possibly representing leaves or flowers, are scattered throughout, enhancing the painting's overall texture and vibrancy.Overall, the artwork embodies a soothing, almost ethereal quality, capturing the transient beauty of nature as it awakens from the winter chill, poised on the brink of spring’s full bloom.

In Lina Beržanskytė-Trembo's work, as the artist herself says, nothing is invented, everything is felt. It is a world of feelings and inner experiences that has taken shape on canvas.

Lina's artistic expression balances between abstraction and recognisable silhouettes of women and landscapes. It is important for the artist to work impromptu, to let the hand move, to guide herself, to make the work as organic as possible, to reflect as accurately as possible what is going on inside. Although the artist is also familiar with natural motifs and depictions of natural transformations, her works are mostly devoted to the themes of the inner world of man: loneliness, peace of mind, prophetic visions, prayer, touching eternity, love. Even through the motifs of nature, the author tries to convey the cycles that occur in human beings - desolation, stagnation, resurrection, blossoming, abundance.

"It seems that through the elasticity and vitality of the line, the frenzy of colours, I manage to capture the connection between the moment and the Eternal Mystery, and that this is best revealed through the uncharted vision and the charm of unexplored desires," says the artist.

The author was born in 1970 in Vilnius, into a family of physicians. In 1989, she graduated from the M. K. Čiurlionis Art School (diploma in painting, lecturers M. Skudutis, V. Jusionis). In the same year, she entered the Vilnius Academy of Arts, specialising in fresco-mosaic. In 1995, after graduation, she went to Stuttgart, Germany, where she held her personal exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions. In 2000 she returned to Vilnius, where she lives and organises exhibitions. Since 2007 she has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union (in 2007 she was granted the status of creator). She has held over 50 solo exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, and actively participates in group exhibitions (over 40 group exhibitions).
