About the author
The graphic artist and organiser of creative activities Marius Mindaugas Danys (1961 - 2015) was both a prominent and controversial personality in the Lithuanian art field. His openness to the pulse of living reality, his restless manner and dynamic temperament permeate his work, while his creative freedom and spontaneity attract art lovers like a magnet.
Nature is the artist's most frequent subject, but in his landscapes, instead of trying to replicate the spectacle, M. M. Danys attempts to convey the element itself. It seems that the unbridled element controls and moves the artist's brush, freely, unrestrictedly, the brushstrokes pulsate and vibrate, so frantically that the landscape often turns into abstraction.
The colours of M.M. Danis are vivid and lively, competing in brightness on one canvas, calming down to nuanced shades and then immediately becoming furious again, as if not only the image of nature, but also the greatest secrets of the universe were unfolding before our eyes. According to art historian Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Aleksandravičiūtė: "The works reveal a frenzied and lyrical world that knows no boundaries: the spheres of the sky and the earth generate each other, the seeds of plants give rise to planets, and colours and spaces are, as it were, linked by love and struggle." We would add that the impressive size of the canvases adds to the strong impression. If you have a large blank wall, these works are sure to bring a dynamic atmosphere into your home.
