Artist

Vaida is a graduate of Klaipėda College of Business and Technology (Landscape Design) and Klaipėda University (Landscape Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning). Vaida has worked as a landscape designer and architect for more than ten years. She came to Ireland in 2007 to study BA Honours Fine Art at the Dublin Institute of Technology, which she successfully completed in 2015.

She combines several distinct artistic disciplines such as painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, sculpture and installation. She currently lives and works in Dublin, Ireland, but is originally from Klaipėda, Lithuania.

One of the most important tasks of the artist is to experiment, combine different means of artistic expression, and strive to express the decorative functions of different art forms as effectively as possible. Also, by combining different methods, the artist is looking for a combination of mixed techniques that best reflects her ideas.

"My interest is to observe, analyse and understand cultural, philosophical and environmental issues. Through the use of individual artistic disciplines, symbolism and the language of semiotics, I try to convey a mixture of the contemporary world, myth and fantasy in my work. I want to expand the boundaries between reality and imagination: utopia, dystopia, heterotopia, alchemy and illusion are the main themes used in my work.

I speak the language of the visual arts because I believe that art is a reason and a way to explore, reflect and aesthetically express the world around me." - says the artist.
