More about this artwork

The painting features a figure with neutral-toned skin positioned in the center against a backdrop of vibrant lime and sea-green tones and a small segment of beige. The figure seems genderless and simplified, with distinct, poetic lines defining their form. Floating above the figure's head is a neon green geometrical halo, intersected by a faint red circular aura, adding a spiritual or mystical layer to the scene.Attached to the figure is a white circular form, resembling a collar or a spiritual yoke, which encircles the neck and extends outwards, resting disconnectedly around the figure. The figure's two arms, outlined against the torso, are unbalanced in posture, one hanging straight along the body and the other held up with a bent elbow. Additionally, the figure seems to be holding onto or tied to thin, stick-like forms—one possibly being a crucifix—contributing to the themes of burden or ceremony. The figure is adorned with patches of red flowers stamped across the chest and legs, and more gently printed flowers trail off to the body's lower right side, implying a field or cascade of blossoms. Other abstract and emotionally expressive marks in white and dark hues enhance the background, suggesting an environment that's dynamic and perhaps tumultuous.Interestingly, there is a stamped or stenciled texture on the figure’s chest, hinting at either physical transformation or symbolic markings. The entire composition exudes a surreal, contemplative aura, posing questions about identity, spirituality, and transformation.

Artist

Orinta Klimaitė is a dermatovenerology resident who also serves as a prosector at the Institute of Anatomy at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU). Her profound involvement with anatomy and the human body deeply informs her creative endeavors, granting her a distinctive scientific perspective from which she delves into the physical and conceptual intricacies of human form.

Over the course of her academic journey, Orinta has become thoroughly absorbed by the complex and harmonious design of the human organism. She is fascinated by the way every organ and system fulfills its particular role, adapts to various changes, and works to sustain homeostasis. Nonetheless, amid this precisely functioning system, she finds herself drawn to the enigmatic presence of the human soul—shapeless and elusive, defying scientific understanding.

Orinta’s art is a continuous exploration of the duality inherent in every individual. Through her creations, she strives to unveil the tension, contrasts, and ambiguities within a single body as it seeks out its genuine essence. By challenging external expectations and established societal standards, her art portrays the internal battle to retain one’s individuality and personal identity.

Her artistic purpose centers on remaining faithful to herself and her true nature, while openly embracing vulnerability and sincere emotion. Orinta aspires to inspire audiences to contemplate the strength it takes to uphold authenticity, to reject conformity, and to accept the full depth of their own emotions without fear.
