Painting in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
The painting depicts an abstract figure, largely defined by soft, curving lines and a muted palette of grays, whites, and subtle hints of ochre and blue. The strokes are bold and fluid, suggesting movement, while the composition focuses on the central figure which seems enveloped or partially obscured by these sweeping lines. The figure's posture is somewhat ambiguous, potentially bent forward, with one arm appearing to cross over the body, adding a sense of introspection or self-protection. The overall impression is one of vulnerability and perhaps contemplation, rendered in a style that blurs the lines between the tangible and the ephemeral.
