More about this artwork

The painting showcases a vibrant cluster of tomatoes on a vine, dabbed in a realistic yet expressive style. The backdrop is rendered in dark, muted tones, making the flashes of red and yellow-green of the tomatoes pop strikingly against it. Leaves and stems are depicted with loose brush strokes in various shades of green, accentuating the organic, lively feel of a garden. Flecks of white and lighter tints are interspersed, giving more dimension to the tomatoes, some of which appear ripe while others are still maturing. The naturalistic approach captures the lushness and immediacy of a moment in a garden, observed with an eye for color and light.

Artist

Lina Audronytė's paintings search for the unnoticed everyday, for what slips through the eyes in routine. The artist tries to look at the everyday environment from a different angle, to take ordinary objects out of their usual context. In this way, the courtyards of old apartment blocks turn into stills from a science fiction film, tomatoes in a greenhouse into strange, extraterrestrial plants, and a simple bouquet into a reflection of transcendence. The artist's aim is to pinch the viewer and wake him up from his routine slumber.

From 2005 to 2011  studied painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. In 2006 participated in ANTIPOPS festival in Kaunas. In 2012 was a resident at Fluxus Ministry. In 2019 started to create more actively. Since July 2020  is a participant of the online gallery "Art without a Roof", and also part of the international project "COCA ART". In September 2020 organised the exhibition "Night Activities" in Vilnius, Ramintojos Church. This exhibition was her first in Vilnius, and most of the works were specially created for the Culture Night 2020 project.
