More about this artwork

In this painting by Agnė Juršytė titled "THE WOLF," we see a striking depiction of a wolf. The animal stands alert, with a slightly turned head and piercing eyes that gaze forward. The use of vibrant colors like blues, yellows, and grays adds a dynamic texture to its fur. The background is minimal, mostly white, which highlights the wolf even more.Juršytė's style in this painting is expressive and somewhat abstract. It focuses on bold brush strokes that suggest the form and rough texture of the wolf's fur. Each stroke contributes to the liveliness and movement in the image. The style feels both wild and intimate, echoing the nature of the wolf itself. This approach creates a captivating visual experience that draws the viewer to explore every detail of the creature's depiction.

Agnė Juršytė, a Lithuanian graphic artist, is celebrated for delving into themes of identity and human connection through her artistic work. In 1998, she completed her studies at the M. K. Čiurlionis National School of Art in Vilnius. She later earned a Bachelor’s degree from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2003, followed by a Master’s degree with a focus on artistic printmaking in 2005. Juršytė has belonged to the Lithuanian Artists' Association since 2008 and holds the status of a formally recognized artist.

Since 2001, Juršytė has maintained an active presence in the art community, taking part in numerous projects, plein-air workshops, and group exhibitions both within Lithuania and abroad. Throughout her artistic journey, she has presented twelve solo exhibitions, each reflecting her evolving artistic vision and distinctive narrative style. Her works have been displayed at respected spaces such as Gallery XX in Panevėžys, the RKC Gallery in Vilnius, and the Exhibition Hall of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO.

Central to Juršytė’s artistic expression is a deep engagement with the inner life of the individual. Her creations address the pursuit of identity and the fundamental instinct to connect with the greater world. As she articulates, “Human life is an equation with many unknowns. We are constantly trying to solve, understand, compare, and define ourselves.” This outlook is evident throughout her art, encouraging viewers to begin their own paths of introspection and self-discovery.

Rather than providing definitive answers, Juršytė emphasizes the act of searching within her work. She draws inspiration from the qualities of line, the feel of a brushstroke, and even the tactile opposition of the working surface. For Juršytė, both life and artistic practice are defined by continual pursuit—a relentless urge to explore, to encounter, and to interrogate both the world and oneself.
